Helen Yu began to study piano with Dr. Tanya Shevtsova when she was 3 years old. Now, two years later, Helen is playing pieces from the Grade 9 repertoire. In her first music competition - Russian Music Festival 2008, 3 year old Helen received a special Award for outstanding performance. Next year at the age of four she made her concert debut at the Wonder-Child Concert 2009 and the Young Stars Festival 2009 playing Concertino by Polunin accompanied by a string quartet.
Helen has already received numerous awards and scholarships in: Richmond Music Festival 2008 Russian Music Festival 2009 Kiwanis Music Festival 2008 Kiwanis Music Festival 2009
Amazingly, at so early age, Helen’s major goal is to become a professional concert pianist.
